Brew Manglecat is a cat wizard and mercenary born in the Blue Kingdom of Amaranth who is often seen roaming around the Sleep Valley and the Rem Forest while trying to sell his handmade potions and other wares.
He owns a physical store in the Sleep Valley conveniently placed so that those who are taking the main road into Amaranth have no way to miss it. He's a chatty salesman who is just charming enough to get you to buy something you absolutely do not need.
Appearance
Brew is a 190cm tall and lanky looking Cat Drimare with violet fur, ivory white skin and hot pink eyes. He has medium length hair with two large cat ears with white insides, thick eyebrows and can often be seen with a wide cheshire-like grin.
He also has long purple fur around his neck area, a long cat tail and furred arms and legs with claws.
Brew is quickly noticeable because of the large black wizard hat he's often seen wearing. He also wears a black sleeveless top with a hot pink belt, a pale pink vest and pale pink shorts.
Personality
Brew is a cheeky and mischievous mercenary, and much like all chatty salesmen, he's quite hard to shake off and dismiss.
He's dubiously friendly and maybe a bit too flattering to others to gain their good side. He's also quite eccentric in his creations, with his potions sometimes being quite morally questionable in their effects.
Brew will create just about any potion, though he does draw the line at love potions, despite how much those get requested. His greatest passion is his work and making money, which he often makes his top priority for everything.
He also cares for a small garden where he grows all sorts of flowers and herbs used in magic, something which his mother also used to do when she was alive.
Brew has a general mistrust of others who hate magic, specially after what happened to his family when their magical identity was discovered.
Abilities
Despite being a wizard, Brew's abilities focus more on what his potions can do, rather than actual physical powers of his own. Despite knowing about magic, he does not actually have actual powers of his own.
He quite knowledgeable about potion recipes and what each magic plant does what when it comes to brewing potions.
Relationships
Dinah and Felix
Brew hardly remembers anything about his parents because of how young he was when they were killed by being burned alive, with imagery of fire being something which often torments his memories of them.
He recalls his mother's passion for growing magical herbs and the spells his father would write in countless books.
He recalls having to hide their magic from the village, and what happened when the villagers found out they were witches and sorcerers.
Brew intends to keep their memory alive by still planting his mother's favourite flowers and keeping journals of his works much like his father did.
Diana
Diana was an old family friend of his mother and back when his parents were killed, Brew ran off to her to her village to hide from the angered villagers who burned his parents. The Flower Drimare was horrified to hear what happened and took him in, raising him as if he was her own.
Brew moved out as an adult, but still keeps the occasional contact with her.
Cordelia
The Lamp Reaper is usually an ominous presence, but Brew has since gotten used to seeing her around. She usually just roams the place to see if everything is in check. He has attempted to strike a conversation once or twice, but it's hard to convince an undead spirit to buy anything.

Rosália
Despite having a general dislike for those who look down on him for doing magic, the strange rose lady who avoids him like the plague can't help but be an amusing sight to him, but is not as amusing when she comes over to preach to him about how only the gods should be allowed to use magic.
Nyx
Nyx is one of Brew's regulars, being a healer, she often comes to his store to request healing herbs and potions she could use as medicine and he's quick to provide. She once asked him if he had anything that could cure werewolfism, which he unfortunately didn't, finding her request to be rather odd.
Fauna
Sometimes appears with Nyx or in her place doing errands for her.
She's quite shy and doesn't speak much, so Brew respects her space.
Malice
In one of his visits to the Rem Forest, Brew came across this small wisp-like ghost, and seeing it as an interesting thing he could potentially use to sell or try his experimental potions on, he attempted to capture it with a net.
Turns out this wasn't a small wisp, but rather what a Reaper looks like when they're healing.
The moment Brew saw the angered ghost regain a larger physical form and summoning a scythe to chase him with, he ran off, realizing that maybe trying to capture little lost ghosts wasn't the greatest investment.
To this day, Brew tries his best to avoid that specific portion of the forest. Reapers might be immortal and with a long life-span, but Malice will forever hold a grudge.
Backstory
Brew was born to a family in Amaranth that had been involved with witchcraft for many generations, with his mother being a witch and his father being a retired mage from the Spade court. Living in a village of paranoid inhabitants who despised magic, his family was forced to keep their occupations a secret in order not to have their lives put in danger. This worked out for many years until eventually the villagers found out about the family's true nature and surrounded their house.
Brew had been out that day and once he returned, he saw that the village's people had set his family's house on fire, a fate he had been told was to come if he showed his magic to the wrong people. He knew what this meant for his parents, who had been locked inside.
Terrified of approaching the house, and unable to approach the house without being spotted and knowing that eventually the villagers would eventually go looking for him, he fled, mourning the death of his parents. He sought shelter with Diana, an Flytrap Drimare who was an old friend of his mother who took him as her own until he was old enough to move out.
Growing to resent Amaranth for his parents' death, Brew made his way to the Sleep Valley, where he set up his shop and has lived ever since, collecting ingredients for his potions, which he began selling, along with other wares and any general knick-knacks that he could put a price tag on and get money for.Trivia
- Brew's design was inspired on Foxy from the FNAF series and the Braixen Pokémon
- His purple fur was originally going to be black as a reference to black cats being associated with witchcraft, but this was changed as it would make Brew too similar to Nekuro, the only other Cat Drimare character at the time.
- Brew's fur was actually a very purple-ish black in very early concepts, but was slowly changed to purple as time went on
- I once drew him eating cat food with milk like it was cereal, it was great. Add that to the things that are dubiously canon about this character.
