The Mirror World, also more casually referred to as the Mirror AU, was an alternate universe created back in 2012, meant to tie in with the lore behind the Alice of Nightmaren Sacrifice picture video.

The Mirror World, was the world which the characters entered in the original video, being a layer deeper into the Dream World. For a while, the Mirror World was actually considered to be canon, but this was scrapped.

Lore[]

"Legend says that our world, the Mirror World, was nothing but a forgotten realm created by the gods. The Drimare never needed their own dream realm to visit in their sleep, but ambitious gods thought otherwise.

Long ago in the dawn of creation, an exact copy of the world was formed, all that surrounded it was golden sand, and in the center, a vast forest civilization and kingdom lived, known as the Rem Forest.

While the Drimare in the Dream World lived in peace, the Mirror World strived in pain and chaos. Destined to live in an unfinished and abandoned world, the Mirror inhabitants resented their waking counterparts. The Dream World grew and prospered, and the once vast kingdom of the Rem Forest fell into ruin as the Drimare began to spread. However, the Mirror inhabitants never had this chance, their world was frozen in time, and the ever-growing resentment only increased the chaos.

The Mirror inhabitants begged the gods to put them out of their misery. While the Sandman never gave them a response, as if ashamed of his creation, the goddess Dawn prophesied their demise. Her hatred for the Drimare kind could only be held back by the sand god, who in his absence allowed her to bestow a curse upon the land.

Dawn could wipe the forgotten world from existence, but she was forbidden from killing any living thing, so instead she prophesied that one day, 5 different Drimare would come from the waking world, and they would lead to the destruction of the Mirror realm. They were called many names, Bad Omens, the Awaken, but sometime long ago, they began to be referred to as the "Alices" instead.

The First Alice to arrive would be a warrior, consumed by rage, they'd slaughter whoever crossed their path. Like an angel of death, they won't stop until there's nothing left. Even if many would attempt to contain them, all attempts would be futile.

The Second Alice would follow in the shadow of the first, while harmless at first, their presence will bring chaos.

The Third Alice would come later on, and attempt to bring peace to the realm while the chaos kept spreading, but their influence would make them go mad with power.

The Fourth and Fifth Alices would arrive as a pair of siblings, intending to take down the Third Alice, and return to their world. But the mission was always destined to fail. The first Alice would come to corrupt and kill them. And only then, when the world is purged and empty will Dawn be allowed to erase it.

Now, thousands of years have gone by and the old stories have become nothing but forgotten superstitions told by elders. None know if the myths are even true, or if the goddess would ever follow through with her curse.

It is also said that the Mirror world inhabitants all have alter egos in the waking world, and the Mirrors of the 5 fabled Drimare will hear their voices long before their arrival. While many have claimed to have heard the voices of the Alices, none have ever proved to be true."

World[]

Twisted even for DU standards

Folks are also a bit wack so there's that

The original AU was created before any DU regions were ever established other than "The Forest" aka proto Rem Forest, so I'm uncertain if the Mirror World is a copy of the world, or just its own thing

One of the alternates becomes a ruler and I picture royalty and stuff like that so???

Characters[]

Canon Characters[]

Darah

In the original story, she lured Ramel into the World, is she related in anyway? Is she a living plot device? Or... ghost... plot device...

Ramel

the og first Alice, fueled by rage

Scath

Second Alice, does not have a Mirror self

Shadow

Paired with Scath. Apparently old shadow drimare lore said that Shadows didn't have Mirrors, and instead it was Scath's Shadow instead bluhhh why did I name him Shadow, iT MAKES TYPING THIS SO ANNOYING

Iron

Third Alice because the og third Alice was a guest character

He just kinda snapped in the AU I guess. Old Ron was weird anyway

Zelly & Blade

Fourth Alices, they're just kinda vibing themselves into the world, maybe looking for Ron?

Mirrors[]

Remilia

Ramel's Mirror, reclusive, a lot more chill than regular Ramel, but gets scared shitless when she finds out that not only she's a Mirror, but she's the Mirror the First Alice

Aeron

Iron's mirror, found out he was a Mirror in advance and took to keeping watch for the arrival of the First Alice. Ironically he's blind

Zela

Zelly's Mirror, found out she was a Mirror because she kept hearing Zelly's voice in her head and went insane. Due to being a Mirror, she can't die despite wanting to, so she waits everyday for the arrive of her alternate

Blake

Blade's Mirror. Just a sweet boy who did no wrong and dealing with his sister's insanity cost him his voice and nearly his life. Doesn't know he's a Mirror or what that even is.

Dust

Rust's Mirror. Absolutely deranged, I don't know what his deal is, Dust is literally just a paranoid maniac

Ashe

Torch's Mirror. A sad ghost. Due to being a Mirror, he's not supposed to be able to die, but somehow he did due to some undeveloped accident. But his spirit can't really cross over until the prophecy fulfils itself

Alex and Alez

Axel and Azel's Mirrors. Alex is a rat bastard and Alez is a chill boy. May or may not be crazy

They appear in Scath's chapter of the original story??
